In-Home Lifestyle Branding Headshot Event for Creative Entrepreneurs

Branding Your Business Event

I am elated to share a few images from my first Branding Your Business Headshot Event inside my home!

This was an idea I’ve had swirling around in my head after I had my own headshots done in my home. With all the wonderful feedback I received from my personal branding session coupled with all the kind words on my very bright and neutral new build…I just KNEW I had to make this idea come to fruition!

The Importance of Professional Headshots

Lifestyle images for your creative business are key to forming connections with your current and potential clients, developing your personal style & brand, and for helping you stand out in a see of creative entrepreneurs. They help humanize your brand and give it personality.

If I am searching for a new hair stylist I might do one of two things. I may first ask my friends/family for a recommendation, or I may search on social. If I am looking for a new business/vendor on Instagram, you bet I’ll be looking at those little squares hoping they give me all the insight into this stylists talent and brand! Not only do I want to see examples of their current work, but I want to see THEM to. If one stylist only has cat photos on their feed but the next is sharing before & afters and fun headshots to humanize their brand, I am probably going with the latter!

Here are some tips I would recommend when preparing for your own lifestyle branding session!

  • invest in professional hair & make-up! When you look your best, you’ll feel more confident and camera ready!

  • Select wardrobe that reflects your brand. What colors are your brand? What does it represent? How do you want it portrayed? Your outfits should reflect all of the above! If you’re brand is minimalistic and neutral, I wouldn’t recommend wearing bright colors and bold patterns, etc.

  • Bring multiple looks! If you’re heading into a branding session, bring a few changes of clothes so you can switch up your look. This will give you more flexibility for posting after the session, giving the illusion they were taken on different days. We’re just killing two birds with one stone here! Maximize the experience!

  • Bring along “props”! Now, I’m not generally a fan of shooting with a bunch of props, but branding sessions need to help tell your story. What is it you do? Photography? Editing? Hair Stylist? Make-up? Bring along something to hold that represents this! Examples: Laptop, planner, favorite mug, cell phone, make-up bag, scissors, books & satchels, etc. You don’t need to incorporate them in every shot, but you’ll love having those options!

  • Relax! I totally get it. Having your photo taken can be very intimidating! You may just feel uncomfortable and awkward with a camera right in your face and that’s understandable. You’re not alone there! Hire a photographer that’s high energy! Request music to be played and hey…have a drink! I love providing mimosas at my branding events to help loosen up my attendees. Deep breaths and just have fun with it!

Without further ado…here are the beautiful boss babes that attended my first branding event!
